FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Calgary, AB (November 25, 2025) – Northern Lights Fiber recently wrapped up its Back-to-School Promotion, raising an impressive $8,160 in support of local food banks across the communities it serves. Over a six-week period, the Company contributed $20 for every new customer sign-up, reinforcing its commitment to giving back and helping families in need as the school year began.
“Too often, national providers overlook local rural communities — but these are the places that built us,” said Jodi Bloomer, Co-founder and President of Northern Lights Fiber. “For us, it’s about more than delivering fast internet, it’s about showing up for our neighbours. Supporting local food banks and other community initiatives is part of who we are – we know how much these programs mean to small towns and the families here, because we also call it home.”
Driven by steady customer growth in Sherwood Park, Northern Lights Fiber proudly contributed $3,880 to the Strathcona Food Bank, the largest donation made during the campaign.
“The need this year is particularly high,” said Tracey Cyca, Co-Chair of the Strathcona Food Bank. “Since 2021, we’ve seen demand for our services grow by 200%. We rely on the support of local businesses and our community to help us serve 750 families each month — 40% of our clients are under the age of 18. Help us fulfill our vision of Nourishing Community with Food and Hope so that no one faces an empty table this holiday season.
”To wrap up its food bank support campaign, Northern Lights Fiber brought the community together at the Sexsmith Arena for a special event alongside Calgary Flames alumnus Tim Hunter. While there was plenty of fun on the ice with local hockey teams, the heart of the event was about coming together as a community to make a real difference for those in need.
